An ungrounded son

Today marks the day a son is released from being grounded. As the kids got older we've had to be more inventive on imposing consequences for straying outside the bounds of our expectations. But grounding is tried and true. The word itself is so interesting. Don't we all need to remind ourselves to recenter and ground. For me grounding reels the wayward teen back into the bosom of his family for a time. A wonderful opportunity for me to enjoy him being home more, too. Grounding serves to allow him a reconnection to us and our values so that they may be that much closer to him as he returns once again to forming his own.

  1. What a great way to look at it. I enjoy the kids being grounded at times because it really does reconnect the family.
